Winter Skin Survival
Anyone else curious as to natural skincare options to have on hand this winter season? Winter is definitely in our face and doesn’t appear to be leaving any time soon. Here in Colorado we have had snow, ice, and some negative temps. It’s the time to snuggle up with your favorite blanket, sweater, and cup of coffee as I explore these products that have become my skin’s faves!
It’s not a secret, or at least it shouldn’t be, that all things become drier in the winter. I am talking full on dry climate and dry skin. If you don’t keep your skin hydrated you will see the signs of cracking, redness, itchiness and literal sensitivity running amuck. This is seriously not a good look for anyone!
I have started to do a triple team of moisture for my skin all with the help of our friends over at Rocky Mountain Soap Market. Not in town? Well they have the online store and/or you can call in and they will answer any and all of your questions that you may have and get you squared away with some loving body oils and whipped silk gourmet body cream! I start my nightly routine with a Dead Sea Salt soak in my bath. I will then only pat my skin to a semi-dry state and then lock in the remainder of the water left in with their must have Bath & Body oil. It literally has changed my skin for the better. I end this with the Gourmet Body Cream and I have literally done the best for my skin to keep it balanced and hydrated.
Farmacy Green Clean – If you are not familiar with this cleansing balm, you need to be. With just a small amount it literally removes the makeup, grime, and elements from the outdoors from your skin. It leaves you skin cleansed, hydrated and balanced to continue on to your second part of cleansing.
Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser – Hands down this is my fave water based cleanser. You literally can feel the clean. It isn’t drying, it isn’t overly hydrating, it is just the right balance.
Summer Friday’s R+R Mask – the Rose exfoliant is my obsession. I am loving the hydrating Jet Lag mask that I use literally every single day (little hint - you can also use this under your makeup, just a pinch, as a great primer!) I have been experimenting with it for well over three weeks now and will never be without it. It is gentle that sloughs off the dead skin leaving your skin looking fresh, healthy, bright and does not disrupt the skin’s natural moisture balance, but enhances it.
Facial Oils / Serums
Oy-L Crystal Eye Serum – I am obsessed. Let me just get that out of the way. This hydrating eye serum literally plumps my parched delicate under-eye area and helps minimize fine lines. I use it morning and night. It helps smooth your skin and wrinkles, hydrates, all while not feeling greasy at all. It seeps effortlessly into your skin, giving a radiance of hydration.
Indie Lee Squalane Oil – Another game changer in nourishing my skin this winter season. I adore how simplistic this oil is. It has literally changed the overall quality of my skin over the past few weeks. It is not greasy at all, and literally leaves my skin feeling amazing.
Youth to the People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream – This cream left me speechless. Upon application my dryness is nowhere to be found, I am left with hydrated and plumped skin. For those that have inquired about smells. It has absolutely no smell at all. I have been impressed at how it stacks up with all of my other products that I use on the daily. I use this day and night.
With all of these, I literally wake up with skin that feels hydrated, supple and moisturized completely without feeling oily or having any residue.
Oy-L Manuka Latte Lip Balm - the balm itself is a game changer for those with dry, easily chapped lips. I can’t get enough. This balm seals in the moisture and locks it in all day. No greasy residue is left behind. This is all you need for the moisture on your lips that you crave. No joking. Do yourself a favor and grab this balm.
