LAWLESS: Beauty Review by Blush & Brews Beauty

So as you know, if you have been following us on Instagram, wait…you are following aren’t you?!

Psst…@blushandbrew.

Back to where I was, one of our goals for 2019 was to start the path leading us to cleaner routines for both makeup and skincare, as well as, focusing on more indie brands and brands that maybe are not so much indie any longer, but not getting as much spotlight as they should be.

With that I dug my heels in starting back in July/August of 2018 and started my research on who we would be hitting the ground running with in 2019. Lawless instantly caught my eye when I was researching makeup brands. The name itself caught my eye because I am a paralegal and Andrea is an attorney and our love/obsession/addiction for makeup and skincare is totally as far away from the practice of law as you can get which tada…is Lawless! Yes, I really am this nerdy. I prefer to call it the intellectual badass effect.

Okay, let’s get into this because I am dying to fill you in on my time reviewing this brand!

I initially just ordered the Woke Up Like This foundation in the shade Oasis. I have fair skin with neutral/peach undertones and auburn hair. This shade is a bit too light for me so I will be rectifying this as soon as this runs out. I ordered a shade down after reading some reviews that had indicated that they noticed that the foundation oxidizes a bit so I wanted to be on the safe side. (Note: the foundation did not oxidize on me at all.) After having the foundation for roughly a week I turned around and ordered the Seal the Deal loose setting powder and two shades of the Soft Matte Liquid Lipstick. I obsessively love nude lips and the two shades I ordered (Leo and Ryan) that we will get to did NOT disappoint!

Packaging, hands down, is luxurious and amazing. I was completely wow’d when I opened up the packaging and saw the sleek, clean lines of black and white. While the twenty (20) shade range is respectable, and I am happy to hear that they will be adding to his range in the near future, because the shade range is not quite all the way there yet with the fact that brands are embracing that most women of all shade tones do not fit in the standard molds that they have tried to force us into in years gone by.

Like I indicated previously, I did read extensive reviews prior to receiving the product and saw that there was oxidation and that it would take multiple pumps to cover your face. I am unsure if it this is just me and my skin, but I did not have any issues with oxidation, and I found that one pump covered my whole face. I would use my brush in order to pump out product and then dot it all over my face. I would then use a dampened beauty blender to blend the product into my skin. To me, this is a full coverage product that does not feel full coverage. It left my skin feeling like skin, hydrated, and with a radiant finish. If you are a matte loving girl this is not something I would recommend for you. (In terms of disclosure: I have combination skin normal to dry with hints of oily in my t-zone.)

I found that the foundation did have transfer prior to my adding the Seal the Deal setting powder. However, once I added Seal the Deal into my daily routine I did not have any transfer issues, nor did I have any complaints about the longevity of wear. The addition of the setting powder was the clincher for me. It really locked everything into place and left a gorgeous, healthy, glowing, and radiant finish that just looked like healthy skin. I found that neither of these products accentuated my pores or fine lines and literally provided me with a flawless finish…Flawless with Lawless (ok another nerd badass joke there…moving on!)

Another thing to note is that I did not use any primers with my application, however, I do have a rigorous hydrating regime that I do at night and in the morning. So, I would say that having your skin prepped will, like with any product, result in a better payoff.

Now let’s talk about those lips. Seriously, the colors are pigmented and amazing. I am shocked at how they don’t leave a feeling of having had a long-wearing lip on like most do. My lips did not look dry, but actually feel hydrated. I am addicted!

I can say that I will continue to be a lover of this brand. I love that it is making waves in the beauty industry and creating a line that is #cleanAF and has hit the ground running making great strides while at the same time leaving room for improvement. I would totally recommend either of these products for those that are looking for a clean alternative that leaves your skin looking like naturally, radiant, glowing skin.
