Foundation Breakdown:

Three Foundations That Live Up to the Hype.

We all fall victim to it.  We watch our favorite beauty video bloggers and watch them create amazing looks and instantly want to purchase everything that was used.  We all want that same flawless, poreless, perfect complexion we see on the screen.  I always have a shopping cart prepared at Sephora and Ulta (my husband wishes I was joking) that is a mile long at all times with all of the wonderful supposed “holy grail” foundations that are a “must have” for perfect skin.  I have tried out roughly seven foundations and three of them have held to the test.  I will save going into the foundations that I flat out did not like from the first go on my skin in a later blog.

So, let’s get started and get all about that base.

My current ultimate favorite is Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Foundation with SPF 15 ($39.00).  I have have used this product since 2011 and while I will at times stray from it I always return. It never lets me down! I may get the urge to try out the latest and greatest claimed foundation, but when it comes to times when I don't want to worry on whether my foundation will outlast me I know that this is my tried and true! It matches my skin perfectly. It now has forty (40) shades to choose from in getting your perfect match! It blends effortlessly and with the buffer brush it literally looks like your skin!

For days when I know I am going to be heading out after I get off work, I reach for Yves Saint Laurent All Hours Full Coverage Matte Foundation ($58.00).  I am the first to admit that this is a bit pricey, but honestly, it’s worth every penny.  This foundation has not let me down yet so I find it to be worth it.  The coverage is full and a little goes a long way.  I use a makeup brush to blend this down to feeling almost like second skin and it dries down matte without feeling dry and/or cakey.  This foundation has literally been a game changer for me, and yes beauty video blogger Tati the Glam Guru is the reason I had to try it!

My last is a light coverage foundation for those days that I want dewy and natural, Wonderglow ($55.00).  I know I am killing it with the cost!  But these are the reasons I try them out first and then report if they are even worth it.  I will blend this with the Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44.00) and boy does this give the natural skin glow we all crave! The finish is gorgeous.  It is a great medium between dewy, luminous and matte.  It leaves my skin with a gorgeous glow and elevates the overall brightness.

All three of these foundations gave really good coverage, had staying power for at least my 8-hour workday, smoothed out fine lines and blurred if not diminished pores.  I like foundations that will allow your skin to still look like your skin and not as if you have caked tons of makeup on and the three above provided me with just that.
