CLEANSE: Part One
“Double-cleansing may be the single greatest thing you can do for your skin.” Charlotte Cho
The Oil Based Cleanse
You might be sitting there and asking yourself, why? To put it simply, most of the makeup and impurities that you come into contact with you’re skin do not be washed off with water-based cleanser alone. I use Banila Co Clean It Zero Oil Based Balm as my first step in cleansing my skin both in the morning and at night. It cleanses your skin of all oil-based pollutants from makeup, any sunscreen that you have applied to your face (which you should be doing and we will talk about in a later part of this series) and airborne pollutants that you come into contact with just by simply being outside in the elements. I will use this balm by dry and apply in circular motions all over my face and you instantly feel your makeup break down as you go. Then after it has been applied I will add a bit of water and continue the circular motions. The balm will go from a greasy type feeling to a milky consistency. You will then rinse this off with warm water.
The Water Based Cleanse
After the oil-based cleanse you will go on to your water-based foaming cleanser. I currently use Neogen Blueberry Real Fresh Foam Cleanser. They have Green Tea, Cranberry and Cereal Real Fresh Foam Cleansers, as well. I use the Blueberry as it helps prevent premature aging. At 45-years of age I want all the help I can get in that department! This cleanses your skin free of the sweat and dirt that builds up daily leaving your skin completely clean aka the blank canvas so to speak.
These two simple cleansing steps set your skin up for the steps that follow in gaining your best, healthiest, and radian skin possible. As you get older you realize that you should have been doing these things all along in aiding your fight against premature aging from the elements. You are never too old to start the battle against Father Time. He is always out there waiting to give you that single line and/or age spot that will have you staring in the mirror freaking out! Some of my lines from age do not bother me so much as they show I have lived and smiled, but others I want to ward off as long as possible!
